Friday Focus

12 Nov 2021

Hello Willowcreek Family.  This is Ms. Stewart and here is the Friday Focus message for this week.  Our mission is educating, empowering and inspiring excellence. There are 5 items of interest to follow.   If you miss any part of this message, visit the Willowcreek website, Peachjar or Facebook page where it will be printed in its entirety.

  1. Congratulations to our Students of the Week! 6th graders: Ahdon Nichols,  Larenzo Range, Charles Ward, Isaac Watt and Kaitlyn Ackerman.  7th graders:  Aidan Creech, Michael Taylor and Alexander Razo.  8th graders:  Alexia Utley, Kaleb Hacker and Deanna Robinson. Well done all!

  1. Our Naked Turkeys have been feathered up but they could always use more!   The Willowcreek Student Council is raising money for just one more week to provide Thanksgiving meals for some of our families.  Feathers are $1.  There are 3 Naked Turkeys - each with the face of one of the following - Officer Mike, Mr. Wissing and yours truly - Ms. Stewart.  Right now it looks like I will be wearing a turkey suit but there is still time to donate to see Mr. Wissing or Officer Mike “gobbling around”!

  1. If feathers aren’t your thing, there is another way to make a difference.  The National Junior Honor Society is having a canned food drive.  Please send canned goods to school.  Students can give them to their first mod teacher.  The grade level that collects the most canned goods, will get a karaoke party during lunch in early December.

  1. The Portage Township Education Foundation is selling Major Saver Cards through the end of November.  Each card costs $15 and has 21 restaurants and family entertainment buy one, get one free offers. You can send your money to school to get your cards - they make great stocking stuffers - no need to worry about shipping delays!  Your child has been given all the information to order.

  1. Tuesdays and Thursdays each week students are able to access Math and English tutoring through our study tables.  Study tables meet from 2:30 - 4:20.  If parents are not able to provide transportation home for their child, there are 2 activity buses that will take them home.

Thank you and have a great weekend!
