March10th
The 8th grade Lady Braves battled Wheeler at home last night. The A team won 41 to 19. Emma Ortiz had a game high scoring 17 points, 5 of which were 3 pointers. Also contributing to the score was Ava Mendez with 11 points, and Evelyn Garza with 13 points. Defense was lead by Gabriella Kurzwell and Lakayla Whittington.

The B team ended their season strong. Alyssa Dixon scored a game high of 12 points. Also contributing on offense was Kianah King, Makayla White, Kennesha Metcalf, and Grace Watt. Defense was lead by Samaria McKinley, Hanna Godbey, and Kyra Cooper. Amazing job ladies. Coach Pimentel and Coach Vaughn are extremely proud of all of your hard work.  
There is no Folkloria Ballet this week.
Last night your Lady Braves played their last game traveling to Crown Point Wheeler to square off against the Lady Bulldogs!
Playing aggressively and NEVER giving up your lady Braves came up short to the Lady Bulldogs!
Scoring for the Lady Braves were:
Myley Pelke 2pts; Abigale Krinkle 4pts;  Alena Hennings 4pts; Ashtyn Malo 2pts; and Kaira Woods 2pts.
Coach Vee and Coach Selman would like to say "It has been an HONOR and a PRIVILEGE to have coached each and every one of you!"

The 8th grade Portage Lady Braves traveled to Fegely Middle School to compete in a four team tournament. Your lady braves fell to Taft Middle School in the first game. The second game was against Fegley Middle School, with a win. Offense was lead by Alyssa Dixon, Katy Lawrence, Kennesha Metcalf, and Makayla Wright. A strong defense was lead by Kianah King, Lakayla Whittington, Grace Watt, and Hanna Godbey. Way to finish strong ladies!


The 6th grade girl’s team was the first Willowcreek Braves Porta-Botz team to qualify for state. Congratulations to Olivia Nemecek, Hayden Orosz, and Alyssa Tiang on your accomplishment at state this year. Coach Haupt and Swindle enjoyed coaching you all this year!

A BIG Congratulations to our Middle School Porta-Botz Teams A-Atlas and X-Stax for their outstanding performances at the State Championship Competition this past weekend. Team X-Max, Elle, Lala and Aiden finished an impressive 4th place through Qualifying rounds and advanced to eliminations as the 3rd seeded team. Team A- Jacki, Trevor, Caiden and Jimmy advanced to eliminations as the 2nd seeded team. They also brought home some big time recognition winning the State's "Amaze Award" Well done. They definitely make us all Porta-Botz proud.
The Art Department would like to congratulate these 6 students for having their artwork selected for ART ON THE LAKE, a juried art show featuring artworks from all of the schools within our district. Congrats to Abby Smolnicky, DaVina jefferies, Isabella Zannon, Sanaa Conway, Elle Steuer, and Julie Wozniak. These students need to come down to Ms. Arnold's room after announcements to get information about the show.

Reminder: the library will be closed to students this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. High school guidance counselors will be using the library for scheduling classes for all 8th graders. If you can ask your teacher for a pass today and Friday only. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Mrs Lynch would like to congratulate Aniyah King, Giszell Pfeiffer, Kiana Izeta, Preston Robbins, Evan Chubbuck, Caden Staton, Cole Ward and Vanessa Lynch. These students participated in the Indiana Business Professionals of America State Leadership Conference yesterday and they did an amazing job. The results were as follows:

Qualifying for the National Leadership Conference in Washington DC:
Gizeell Pfeiffer who placed 2nd in Keyboarding and Digital Citizenship. Aslo qualifying for Nationals is Kiana Izeta, who placed 3rd in Keyboarding Production..

Also placing in Keyboarding Production were Vanessa Lynch in 7th place, Caden Staton in 9th place and Preston Robbins in 10th place.

Placing in Digital Citizenship were Kiana Izeta in 7th place, Evan Chubbuck in 9th place and Cole Ward in 10th place.

And placing 10th in Business Communications was Giszell Pfeiffer.

Mrs. Lynch is very proud of all the participants and she would also like to thank Mr. Lynch for chaperoning. Great Job Everyone!!!





March 4th

Good morning,

The 8th grade Portage Lady Braves battled Ben Franklin  Middle School. The A team lost in a one point struggle that came down to the wire ending at 22-23. The offence was lead by Ava, Evelyn, and Emma. The strong defense was lead by Gabriella, Gracie, and Lakayla.    

 

The B team played hard with an overall score on 10 to 20. The offence was lead by Alyssa and Kennesha. The defense was lead by Grace, Makayla, Kyra, and Katy. 

Great job ladies!  


The 7th Grade Girls "A" Basketball team defeated Valpo Ben Franklin last night 19 to 15. The offensive leaders were Jocely Martinez, Jiselle Chabes, and Presely Wellestat. The defensive leaders were Abigail Nelson and Savannah Riley.   

 

The  Math academic team will not meet today 3/4/2020

 

Student Council will meet this Wednesday, March 4th in the media center.  We will be discussing the March showcase and other spring ideas.

 

Eighth graders who want to take summer school for high school credit can pick up the summer school application in the Main Office.  Enrollment will be based on a first come basis.  Cost is $35.00 a session.    

 

Track Call Out Meetings


This announcement is for anyone interested in running track this coming school year.  We will be having call out meetings for the track season next week. If you are interested in running track, it is very important that you make the call out meeting.  Coaches will be getting out info on the first practices of the season and the website for the new uniforms.

 

The 8th grade call out meeting will be Tuesday the 9th.  Interested 8th graders should stay in the gym bleachers after dismissal.

 

The 7th grade call out meeting will be Wednesday the 10th.  This meeting will take place in C-1 before school. Listen to announcements before school so you know when to come down to C-1.

 

The 6th grade call out meeting is yet to be determined so interested 6th graders need to pay attention to announcements for further information.

 

As always, if you are planning on running track, you must have an updated sports physical on file.

 



March 3rd
A reminder the BPA will meet today in Mrs. Lynch's room from 2:35 - 4:00.  Please see or      e-mail Mrs. Lynch if you are unable to make it so alternate arrangements can be made.

 "Yesterday the 8th grade Portage Lady Braves traveled to face Chesterton Middle School. The A team lost 20-26. The offence was lead by Ava Mendez, Gabriella Kurzwell, and strong offensive put backs by Evelyn Garza. The defense was lead by Emma Otiz, and Gracie Wardingly.    
 

The B team played hard with an overall score on 18 to 5. The offence was lead by Alyssa Dixon and Kennesha Metcalf. The defense was lead by Makayla Whight, Kyra Cooper, and Kianah King. Great job ladies!”

Anyone interested in Track, you are reminded you will need a physical on file.  Practices will begin this month.  More information coming soon.
