Friday Focus

8 March 2019

Hello Willowcreek Family. This is Ms. Stewart and here is the Friday Focus message for this week. Our mission is educating, empowering and inspiring excellence. There are 6 items of interest to follow. If you miss any part of this message, visit the Willowcreek website, Peachjar or the Facebook page where it will be printed in its entirety.

Congratulations to this week’s Students of the Week. 6th graders: Olivia Mendoza, Kara Batson, Ryan Fraker, Tiana Galindo and Ava Colon. 7th graders: Makena Kretz, Savannah Wardlow and Kaitlyn Puplava. 8th graders: Lailah Casas, Vanessa Rosario and Oscar Kapinos. Principal’s Choice goes to Nikka Boruff. Well done all!

Monday, March 18 at 5:00 the Portage Township School Board will have their Regular Board Meeting here at Willowcreek in our cafeteria. All residents are welcome to attend.

Wednesday, March 20 our Albanese Gummy Bear fundraiser will be delivered. Your child will bring home their orders on Wednesday. If your child had a particularly large order, please plan on picking them up from school.

Friday, March 22 is the last day of the 3rd grading period. Please check Schoology to see if there are any missing assignments to be made up before Friday.

Any student wanting to participate in track must sign up by the following dates: 6th Grade: March 20; 7th Grade: March 21 and 8th Grade: March 22. Students must have a physical on file when practice begins on April 1st.

Research is mounting that our children are sleep deprived. One of the reasons for this is late hours on cell phones, game stations and other electronic devices. For your child’s health, you should remove all electronic items from them at bedtime. Lock them up in safe place so that your child is not tempted to use them into the wee hours.

Thank you and have a great St Patrick’s Day weekend!

Thanks to our PTO for providing help to chaperone the dance this week. Without their assistance, this school wide dance would have been canceled. Volunteers at the dance were: Kelli Kalin, Mickie Miszewski, Jen Takacs, Kim Soto, Roger and Tiffany Butterfield, Chriss Field, Nicole Pleasant, Janice Hill, Joyce Zartuche, Alfonzo Luna, Cindy Tuitman, Penny O’Neil and Kate Bieker.

Next week is Free Breakfast Week. All students may choose to have a free breakfast Monday through Friday.
Wednesday, March 6 is our next Late Start Wednesday. School will start one hour later than usual at 8:25. Remember that buses will pick up one hour later as well.

Our resource officer would like to remind parents that besides being very dangerous, it is illegal to stop on busy Central Ave or Willowcreek Road to drop your child off for school. Parents must use the parking lot in the front or the round-about in the back to safely drop off your child.

Attendance letters were sent home with some students today. Please check with your son or daughter to see if they received one.

Thank you and have a great weekend!
